Airport Arrival Time Calculator: When Should You Leave?
Start with the flight time, then work backward through the airport buffer and the trip to the terminal. The result is a conservative target—not a promise about live traffic, parking, airline cutoffs, or security lines.

How the airport time estimate works
Why does the calculator start with two or three hours?
It uses a common conservative starting point of two hours before a domestic departure and three hours before an international departure, then adds time for larger airports, peak periods, checked bags, traveler needs, parking, rental returns, or shuttles. Your airline and airport instructions override this estimate.
Does the result include driving time?
Yes. Enter the full door-to-terminal travel time, including likely traffic. Parking, rental-car return, and shuttle time are added separately.
Can I arrive later with TSA PreCheck or no checked bag?
Those can reduce friction, but this calculator does not promise a shorter safe window. Security waits, boarding cutoffs, gate distance, and airline rules can still change.
What should I check on travel day?
Check the airline app, flight status, bag-drop and boarding cutoffs, airport security information, parking availability, road or rail alerts, and the actual terminal and gate.
